Another New Shock Needed?

Post by LeePee »

Hi All,

First time poster on this forum :)

I have a 14 plate S60 which has had a knocking noise in the O/S/R for over a year.

I've driven it with the seats down, taken the toolkit out and removed the boot floor but no change.

It was then discovered that one of the shocks was misting slightly so both were replaced but the knock was still there. Thinking a new shock can't be causing the knocking sound, the car has also had new drop links but again no change.

I'm now at the stage of maybe I was unlucky and got a "bad" new shock absorber, is this possible? It only happens over ripply bumps and doesn't happen if I hit bumps evenly. (The top mount has been checked too and no movement there)

Lift the wheels off the ground. Place a lever under the tire and bounce the wheel. Grab the wheel on the sides and wiggle it sideways. Do this to all four. Eyeball the bump stops.
