intercooler

Post by aahmes57 » Thu Mar 19, 2020 4:48 am

1998 S70 GLT 133K
Hello folks, I recently removed the radiator to replace it and found that the tabs that hold the mounting brackets are broken off. Is there an alternate method to mount the brackets to the intercooler rather then the aluminum tabs?

Thanks for your time and stay safe and virus free

I kinda secured the intercooler with zip ties. not a very good solution, but it has been working for 2 years now.

I wish you could really supply useful information for his fix.

What colour were they?

Hope you are all well in Austria.

I think I used black ones, have to look up the manufacturer, but they are at least 15 years old. And this is the key, I think. Always use peruod correct equipment when half-assedly fixing a car. I really like old duct tape, for example. Sticky and non sticky at the same time.

Kids are alright. I'm alright till my clients realize that they can't afford me any more. Life is slow these days, but the sun is out and it's warm.

Do you have any shelter-in-place orders on the east coast by now or is it just the pacific northwest?

We don't do orders too well, just ask King George.

The responsible ones of us are staying home, realizing that trips to the phone store for a cable are non-essential.

Grocery shopping only

My poor better half has responsibility for about 750,000 people, many of whom are critical for this effort, so I have barely seen her in 2 months. The good news is she was the one who pushed the red button in January, so now people listen to her.

Double sided tape and using the tabs. I also drilled through the edge of the radiator and used self tapping screws through both parts with metal epoxy.

Make sure you know which way around they fit. I believe you may be able to use them either way around but best to stick with the original.
