So, let's have your opinions. The Shaggin' Wagon is giving me the occasional no-start. I know it isn't the battery since all dash lights light up like the proverbial Xmas tree. I turn the key and get lots of lights and no, and I mean zero sound. Last time this happened was about a week ago after a gas fill up. I rowed the shifter back and forth about 20 times rapidly and it restarted. The shift lock release button was incredibly difficult to depress.

Sound like a dirty/failed/failing PNP switch? Inquiring minds want to know.

You can try jumping it with the under hood starter but be aware that the connector is upstream of the PnP

That would eliminate ignition switch , electrical part though. I have a spare one of those, by the way

I don't think the starter is dead since I'm pretty sure the original starter has been replaced (without removing the fan shroud) -- and for my next trick, I will be extracting the transmission through the rear tail gate . . . .

what about the antenna ring. That inhibits the starter from running. Try cleaning the contacts to start with and check for cracking in the plastic casing causing breaks in the circuit.

I think the Shagging Wagon is a 99 with DENSO - Immobilizers inhibits starting but not cranking.

When it will not crank and start in "P"...start it in "N".

Tough to depress the shift lock release button to move the shifter.

EU cars doesn't have that button.
Doesn't it suppose to override the gear selector?
It should not have anything to do with p'n'p switch.

Won't start in neutral. Not even turning over. Feels like no juice getting to starter, or bad starter.
