Gas pedal swapability RPM dropping out  Topic is solved

Post by darrylrobert » Fri Apr 03, 2020 12:33 am

Problem RPM drops out around 2-300RPM when pedal is lightly pressed, mildly annoying. Car almost stalls and also can be felt at low speeds. My first thought was the ETM being a 2001 vehicle, however i am reading many symptoms of a bad ETM an none mention RPM drops.

Could it be the gas pedal?

I have a spare gas pedal from my auto (brushless) but its different to the manual (brushed) (wires are same colours)
Ive given the brushes and tracks a noticable cleaning but problem remains

Question are the pedals coded to vehicle?
If i swap will i damage the ecm, ??

havent test driven the car yet but swapped pedals and car appears to idle better and engine seems to respond better.

What were the part numbers of the pedals you swapped?

Volvo web store has fitment guides that are pretty reliable for determining parts compatibility and supercessions

Just back from a short test drive and can report a noticeable improvement in idle, i have an IPD poly upper mount so i can feel everything, i can shuffle forward and back without stalling. Not sure what years got this brush contact pedal but worth a look at if your vehicle is playing up.

Note the connector is needed for changeover
