2007 s40 2.4i - Odd codes

Post by NTXC » Sat Apr 04, 2020 6:30 pm

Hello Everyone,

I just signed up here after lurking for a while (I’m a member of the XC forums, but they don’t do non-xc’s there).

Basically I’m very familiar with working on Volvo’s after working on my XC70 since I bought it. My friend brought her S40 to me to replace the leaking coolant lines.

That went fine but when reading it in VIDA I’m getting all types of odd ECM codes. I’ve cleaned the connectors to the ECU, put in a new battery (hers failed multiple tests and is at least 7 years old), and put in a known working MAF. Her description of the car performance indicated it was in limp mode, but since working on it I haven’t been able to replicate. Being a non-turbo the car is a little slow but runs great.

The fact that it’s running is what confuses me.

Signal to high or too low, start looking for wiring and connector issues. Shorts, opens and connector issues.

So would it be feasible that each of these different sensors have bad connections or does it make sense to start looking at the ECU connectors?

Any good posts on doing this kind of thing? Electrical isn’t really my thing so if there are any good step by step troubleshooting guides I’d greatly appreciate it!
