Looking for an amp and wiring harness

Post by Fiodor »

Hello!

I found a nice SC-901 HU to upgrade my audio system but it's impossible to find the amp and the wiring harness to power it !

Do you know if I can DIY one or does one of you have one in stock ?

Thanks a lot for your help !

Hi Fiodor,

I just wired up a C70 amp to the SC-901. You can buy the C70 amps on ebay if you don't have access to junkyards. I just did custom wiring for this project. There is a thread (see below) on how to do it. It isn't the most clear write-up IMO so let me know if you need any help and I'll do a more thorough write-up job and post it.

I have both, but unfortunately, they are at the back of a 10 ft x 10ft secure storage room. I won't be able to get in for the maybe 4-5 months until I can get my new garage built. Otherwise I would suggest go down the C70 amp route. Not as nice and tidy. Not sure if they come with the wiring harness though.

If you are not in a rush, I can get back to you when I can get into the storage unit and can access the stuff.

Final part would be the cost of shipping. That would make it an expensive amp unless you have to have the OE set-up.

It may be worth trying looking up parts yards in Sweden. I recall seeing several which had Volvo parts listed.

The Volvo Dolby Prologic audio unit for the SC-901 $42.50.
SC-901 Volvo Dolby Prologic processor, Volvo part number 3533799.

As for a aftermarket amp. You would need to find one with a DIN connector input or use a DIN to RCA adapter.

Is the Prologic unit the same as an amplifier? The older P80's had an amp (850's) that mounted up behind the radio. The P80's that had an amp under the passenger seat and the Prologic unit if they had the center speaker on the dash behind the radio head. I may be wrong on this....!

If the S/V70 car came with a center dash pad speaker the ProLogic unit mounted behind the heater core in the console area. The amp was under the passenger seat. If you have pick and pull salvage yards look for a C70 model. The 100 wattamp is inside the trunk on the left side behind a panel. You can pull cables and DIN harness from that vehicle. I always take the mounting brackets. I found another amp (don't remember the car model) mounted under the passenger seat.
I have followed other threads and recently created the speaker wire harness from the amp to the OEM center console speaker connector using an aftermarket adapter and single contact connectors. This will allow me to correct any mistakes between left and right, front and rear speaker hookups. Waiting for good weather to remove the passenger seat and mount the amp, run wires, connect fused 12v supply directly from the battery to the amp, etc.
Good Luck.

The Dolby Pro Logic unit is not a amplifier. It is a Dolby Surround Sound signal processor.

I don't really need one but I am curious if universal remote would work.
