Another DIM question

Today i tried my spare DIM from my 2002xc70 in my 2001xc70 and it didnt work, only check engine light illuminated.

Question is are they software compatible, how can i do it myself?

Also is the cars milage transferred or will i get a new (larger) odometer reading?

UPDATE just bought this DIM from Lithuania for $40 Aud incl delivery thats about $20usd, cheap. Looks in good condition and all three numbers are the same so what could go wrong it should work?.plug and play??.funny thing is nothing is wrong with the DIM i have. Odometer reading is listed as 340k which is alot more than mine (220k) if this is transferred i dont know

It should work IF the seller was honest and it's not damaged. Remember to have the battery disconnected if unplugging it. It will show 340km, nothing you can do about it, but if selling the car, the main dealer can read the computer which will keep the real kms

After some research I found these guys that look to be very reputable and their work is excellent! Their price is a little more than your $40
but I would rather get it right the 1st time with no hassles. I will add the LED bulbs for an additional $20 and I will be driving a 747 heavy when they are done with it. :)

If you have DiCE, yes, our online service allow to transfer original mileage...
Also, you have to know, this kind of DIMs are very "sick", and you can get same issue with your "new" DIM very soon also. But, I hope you are lucky. ))
