Volvo 850 temp gauge dead

Post by chrillew »

Hey

The temp gauge has been really intermittent so replaced The etc and termostat. But to no help.

The months passed and The temp gauge started to not work more frequently.
And now its been dead for a long time.

So got a new cluster and thought i just replace The temp gauge itself. But how do i get the needle of, is it just pulling it off. But seems stuck.

You have a '95....so you still have obdI under the hood.
Check codes for instrument cluster.

You could just swap the whole cluster. Or move the odometer over to the new cluster with the working temp gauge.

Yes you can simply pull the needle off. I have replaced the gauge on the back of the cluster in the past to fix an issue.

The problem with swapping the cluster is that you loose the correct mileage that is stored in the cluster.

Mileage follows the cluster.
You can correct it manually on the odometer gears...but true mileage is written digitally in instrument cluster module.

In the cluster.
True mileage will remain stored digitally in the cluster module.
