2008 S60 2.5T FWD Radiator Replacement Help!

Post by volvooh »

Hello All.
My project is a radiator replacement on a 2008 S60 2.5T FWD. I have done a C70 Turbo twice, this is a bit more complicated. I could use a tutorial if any one has one.

Ive got it on ramps and plan on a bottom removal. First question is does the top "plate" need to be removed....part of the front bumper cover attaches to it...and if so, does it need to be completely separated and if so, what is the best way to go about it.

I am sure I will have more questions, but feel free anyone (please!) to chime in!

Hi,
The easiest way is to take it and the intercooler out through the bottom. If your jack stands are tall enough, this is the way to go. Remove it and the intercooler as a “pack”.
Below is a link to instructions for installing a larger intercooler/radiator, but the process is the same for stock sized parts.

I have a link for doing just the radiator, but it is vastly more detailed & lengthy as a process.

Thank you Pete. So, if I am reading this correctly, only the intercooler and radiator are joined? When I did this job on a C70 the A/C condenser was part of the whole "sandwich" that dropped down (radiator, intercooler and condenser).

Also, is the fan shroud coming out as well?

I have it up on ramps, so we should have plenty of room to work.

Fan shroud comes out the top, then the rest comes out the bottom. Yes, you are correct that the condenser is part of the shammich - it would be the bread. But you want to separate the other two from it, then drop the rad & IC out. It talks about disconnecting the condenser from the other two in that PDF link.

Got it. I went back and took another look and saw where it disconnects from the condenser. On the C70 I did, the entire sandwich dropped. then the components were separated. This looks like it could be slightly less complicated.
