Change oil filter without emptying oil- 2008 s60 2.5t
I need to remove and replace the filter housing and I have a full engine of new synthetic in the engine. Can I R&R the filter housing without dumping all my oil?

It may depend on the amount of oil. If it's full dipstick, I would rather drain and put back the oil.

Whatever is in the cup is gonna come out anyhow. I’d chalk that ~.5 qt up to waste, or pour it through an old clean rag to catch any sediment & then pour that clean oil back in. Either way it won’t be much. Oil is cheap.
If the cup isn’t leaking badly I’d just wait 3-4K miles & change it then when you’ll have the filter cup off anyhow.

Thanks- I've have always assumed a bottom side filter change would require a complete drain before removal. Guess I learned something today! Lost a little but not enough to even register on the dipstick.
