Can I use my HU-650 with new amp and speakers?

Post by capnjim »

Hi there, so I have read so many confusing threads regarding stereo upgrades.
I don't want to get too complicated.
Is it worth just changing just the 4 speakers?
I used to install stereo's in my old beaters all the time. A 4 channel amp with 4 new speakers is something I can do myself. But, I want to use the original head unit.
Can I just take the speaker wires out from the original unit into a new amp?
Or is it too complicated?
I was thinking something like this:
Or would it not even be worth it?

Totally worth it. For $250 you can get a bolt-on Volvo High Performance kit from ebay, with all the speakers/twitters, amp and wire harness. Or get an amp/harness alone and install your own set of speakers.
