Bars Leak Head Gasket Sealer
RE: '04 V70 NA. I just wanted to report and I guess endorse Bars Leak "Professional". Although I don't know the size of the leak, I guess I had a pretty good hole in my head gasket. Plenty of steam out of the overflow bottle and enough pressure built up to blow off the top radiator hose. In any case I decided to give the $50.00 Bars Leak "professional" a try. After a pleasant call to Bars Leak question line, I flushed it and followed the directions. I have to report success. I am only 4 days into it, but all seems fine. I haven't tried highway speed yet, because package indicates several cycles of heating and cooling aid it. I will report if it fails. They have several less expensive head gasket products, but I didn't try them

In my opinion, a resurfacing of the head + block and a new gasket should fix the issue. My radiator exploded, the hose didn't come off, it exploded because of a bad HG. I also had 0.002-0.0027 thou block warpage but did not take care of it. I hope it doesnt bite me in the ass.

Look at his user name. It’s possible this will work, but you may have to make a deal with unpleasant parties to succeedAnotherVolvoNewbie wrote: ↑11 Apr 2024, 10:50 Any update? I’m about to try this out today or tomorrow

The car is now long gone, but sealer lasted for the 6 months further that I owned the car. Had a similar problem on the Volvo that I replaced it with, and the sealer managed to stop up the heater core, leaving me without heat. Ignore Abscate's comment, there is nothing worse than an amateur humorist.
