06 v70: how do I access parking brake adjuster?

Post by ogatrulle » Mon Jun 15, 2020 6:43 pm

I'm only trying to get to the parking brake adjuster screw/nut.

The various videos I can find do not seem to have the same style of console panels around the parking brake lever. They all show a short panel around the base of the lever that can be pried off.

Mine has a long panel (photo below) which I have tried prying, but seems to be stuck along the top of the forward section. How does this come off?

Thanks for your suggestions!

The boot comes out if the hard plastic and reveals the adjusters there.

So should I just pry along the edge of the boot?

It’s usually sticky from spilled soda , coffee, dead bodies so it’s a bit tough to start

I’ll meander over to my P2 and take a few pics to get the visual in this thread this morning

Just lift it up gently. I has several small pins at the bottom which easily break, so when placing it back keep a close eye at the bottom while pushing it down, so all pins engage properly - not a big deal if 1-2 break but still

Tut lifts straight up with finger pressure. Plastic fingers go into slots

After that, lift the brown plastic cover to see the screw

I am astonished at how easy it was once I knew where the boot separates. Never would have guessed. I just pulled up on the perimeter of the leather boot at each of the five slot locations.

Here are some additional pictures I took - same setup as abscate's.

if you find the adjuster doesn't give you the authority needed at the rear wheels, the cables are stretched, I snapped the adjuster in mine.
NOLA from volvo but IPD sells local made ones.
