OOPS - dropped an item into the turbo

Post by ShadyMilkMan » Sun Jun 21, 2020 6:19 pm

1998 Volvo S70 GLT, servicing PCV system, just dropped the plastic part of this clamp, shown below, into the turbo outlet. It's plastic, I can't use a magnet. I have one of those spring-loaded grabber claws on a long, flexible stem, and that has NOT worked. I also have a long LED on a bendable magnet and I can see the yellow reflection of the plastic key head on the inside of the turbo casting, but I cannot make direct eye contact with it. Anyone have any ideas??

Try a sticky wad of tape on a stick or your flex finger grabber tool.

Oh, Vaccuous will get his sacrifice. Going to try a shop vac today. I don't know why I didn't think of that.

I don't know why I didn't think of that.
Thats my copyrighted signature phrase.

:D

Plug everything else open in the motor first, though.

Haha it's such a good one though! I'll pay homage to Vaccuous. And you'll get quoted each time, Abs. 😝

Sorry for the mess of scattered replies. Was in a crappy coverage area and my phone spazzed out.

Tried a shop vac yesterday after work, no luck. But I was able to fish a camera on a stick down into the turbo to confirm that it's definitely in there, almost as far as it can possibly go. I think I may need to remove the turbo this weekend.
