P2 2005 V70 upper driver seat skin repair 39897761

Off came the driver skin fro repair of a split seam- 35 minutes for this. Much easier than p80

Preflight

Don’t disconnect the battery yet If you have power seats

Remove four plastic covers and remove the M10 bolts (14mm hex, all vertical unlike the P80s), drive seat back to access front , forward for rear.

Remove small torn securing plastic switch cover/holder. Then lift at front, snap off tube in rear

Release the Showell pin to undo the seatbelt

Drive seat to forward so base Is just covering the front rails, set the seat back at 90+- 7 degrees

Disconnect negative on battery

Release electrical - it’s a spring loaded small m4 bolt with an 7mm head hex

Leather release

Head rest pops out - no clips to release

No hog rings at base, a plastic snap ring retainer

There about 1/2 as many hOg rings/springs as the P80 cars , work way up front\ doing side and three cross braces

From rear, peel up as front releases, unclip catches on lumbar adjust from metal stays
(tabs with hole in them pick up clips)

Two cross braces with hog rings in rear.

The lumbar knob is a minimal tools removal

Pop the cover with your swissarmy knife or a small Kroner coin

Pop out knob

Pop off trim plate

Anyone with a thimble with guidance on the right thread to use here?

Used dental floss would match the colour interior too

Tip: the lumbar adjustment mechanism on the higher trim seats (the ones with three bottom sections) adjusts more than the one in lower trims (yours). It will put out more lumbar curvature for those like me tall and with lower back problems. Can be easily swapped

I forgot to do a before picture but you can see where my leather seam had split here

I sewed it up using doubled, standard thread, I only made three booboos which I will fix by restiching around them and then cutting the booboos out.

I sewed with the leather turned inside out using the existing holes as a guide
