Gearbox change Volvo 850 T5 AW50-42 LE

Post by Lorrden »

Hi!

Great forum, found alot of useful information here through the years.

I've just swapped my original gearbox (1208840) to an older one (1208560) because mine wouldn't go in reverse.
And I mean litterally nothing would make the car roll backwards.

We had to drag it with a V70 T6 AWD and it still barely moved (Parked it up against a wall  ).

Now, the swap went fine, no major surprises except for one of the driveshafts not budging but a new one is ordered.

The problem is, on my old tranny I have a sensor (RPM/Crankshaft?) on the top/back of the gearbox. Size about a AAA battery.
The hole for this sensor is nowhere to be found on the new 1208560.

I've done a bit of research and apparently the 1208840 has an extra rpm or crankshaft sensor that the 1208560 doesn't.

Is there any solution to this that you know of, please share!

ps. My 850 T5 is a 1996 and the donor car was a 850 T5 1994 or 1995
