Hi all. I'm new to this forum. I'll try to make it short.
A friend has got s60 2.4t petrol, the year 2007.
I'm assuming it was an ex-police car, that's what he said.
So he drove his car to a local garage to do a service and install a remote start system. Thinking he'll be a cool guy. Right!
The guy who was trying to install that remote start somehow end up in prison for a year for who knows what reason and without finishing the job. Now the car is sitting for the past 3 months and it doesn't start. It is coming up with an error "U0167 -- ECM-710B -- Communication Immobilizer -- Signal missing" and it is saying on the dashboard "prevent start, try again".
He has the original key and buttons on the key are working for locking and unlocking the car but the car doesn't start. I called the dealership and they told me that if is just a key that is a problem the price will start from £400 so I'm looking for some cheaper option.
Also, the antenna ring has been replaced (from the scrap yard) and the snap-on diagnostic is showing that antenna ring is recognizing the key but ECM is not receiving it.
Do you guys have any suggestions on what to do and how to investigate what could be the problem? Thank you in advance

It is very easy.
All sync data from CEM was lost When battery discharged. You can check it use some diagnostic tool for check how many keys still in CEM.
Need to restore it or create other data.
There are 2 main ways:
1. Bring car to official dealer. (but they will replace a lot stuff on car and will take a lot money) ))
2. Resync it use aftermarket methods.
About second solution we can offer online service for this case, but you have to have DiCE and new ID48 chip.
There is one point, you have to find immo antenna used for start now. Is it original antenna or antenna from remote start system installed on the car?

I understand what your saying. I think he would definitely go for option 2.
I don't have DiCE but I think I can find it cheap on eBay. It is original antenna. Bought of the same car from the scrapyard.
I have the same thoughts as youRob357 wrote: ↑13 Jul 2020, 17:06Thank you for your answer.yagger wrote: ↑13 Jul 2020, 16:47 It is very easy.
