Front grille question

Post by subzerocarfanatic »

Does anyone know what was the original grille used on a 2000 C70 Convertible and was it used on other Volvo models as well?
I want to replace the one on our C70,it is beat up looking. When I look for one it's kind of confusing because it pulls up the one with the black plastic honey comb style squares behind it instead of the chrome one with vertical bars, and trying to find the Volvo badge for it is confusing as well.

Original C70 was likely the waterfall grille or shiny one. They are fairly cheap as far as i know. If you want to be true to 2000 then you can grab one with a blue logo. Alternatively, if your logo is in good condition, then you can cut off the tabs behind it and move it over to an older 98 grille. The swap is very easy to do.

Forgot to mention, all grilles will fit all of the p80's so do not limit yourself to just a C70 one. You can pick a v70 or s70 as well.

You can verify this on here:

Do you have the 2.3T? If so then the egg crate one (number you posted) is the period and type correct one for your car i believe. You can find those on XC70's of the period and they are not as susceptible to fading as the plastic itself is coloured.

The grilles are universal fit so if you just want to put one in, then you can use either part number, and any of the p80 years

Keep in mind, the ‘98 had the older black “square” logo like 850’s.
‘99-‘00 got the newer blue badge that’s a slighty different shape.

Yeah, I found an older 96 version with the black badge, I think I like the newer ones, they are expensive to replace though worth it I suppose.I found a new OEM grille, just the chrome part with no badges or anything for $39 but then I have to purchase the clips, post, and new Volvo badge which is around $55- $60 itself.
