Interior dome light

Post by patcal »

Sort of a different problem concerning the interior lights. I have read a lot about the lock micro switches. What is happening is the upper dome & side interior light are staying on. When I tested the door lock switches the door red lights go off when the door is closed. I have to turn the dome switch to off to turn off the lights. Is there something else controlling just the overhead lights? Thanks.

They should turn off immediatelly after the car is locked.
Otherwise...they turns off after a minute or so.
There should be three positions of the switch...always off,on/off with doors opened or closed and always on.
Check if switch is in proper position.

My understanding is they fade out after the car is started also. Mine stay on unless I turn the switch to off. I am thinking maybe the switch is flaky.

When they are on when you unlock the doors, they should go off after a minute or so or immediatelly after you turn the key to pos.II.

There is a timer relay which controls those lights, but i don't know where it's located.

Just as a follow up, replaced the switch with no success. Dome light will still stay on. All other lights act as they are supposed to. The thing i sit does not always do it. It will work fine for awhile then all of a sudden i notice the light on when I am driving or the car is locked. Not really sure where to look.

IIRC, the red door lights and the domelight system have separate switches.
