Rear view mirror/sunroof (2002 S60 T5)

Hello...rear view mirror dimming function failed/oil saturated glass. Replaced with a good salvage yard unit with a manual tab to reduce glare. Anyhow, I did not feel like doing the circuit board switch at this point, and just plugged in the replacement...apparently the plug that connects into the back of the mirror powers the UEM? And that powers the sunroof, which stopped working with the salvaged mirror, although the overhead/courtesy lights are working.
So...it’s necessary for the correct mirror to be plugged in for sunroof operation? Thanks.

Oh, the UEM is the mirror unit.
