P80 lower radiator hose 9470409 Rein CHR0127R for 1999- only)

Post by abscate »

I ordered the Rein aftermarket lower rad hose as a replacement with good reviews

URO failures reported in 4 years here, btw.

The water pipe side was not formed correctly and would not fit on the car.

I will return to FCP

Update. This is the wrong part for my 1998

There is a change in the lower radiator hose starting in the 1999 MY

Engines after 1998 have another coolant return pipe with angled inlet, so hoses are different...
If my English is bad, please correct me

Fitment chart from FCP shows compatibility from 1994-2000, so that needs to be improved.

I’ll check my 1999s for this angled fitment and reply

This the lower radiator hose, returning “ cold” coolant to the block via the water pipe on the rear of the block, right side of engine

It is a 2000 2.0T from coupe. Angled inlet and another connection with TC cooling pipe using an O-ring.

Much more reliable connection, than that damned short thin hose with 2 clamps.

I assembled my own engine from 2 different. Block is '98- with internal oil sprayers and heat exchanger on the oil sump. So I'm free from those oil hoses to radiator, they leaking always  . Coolant return pipe is as on photo above. Cylinder head is -'98 without VVT.

Yes,Azik, I confirm my 99 has the angled end of the water pipe so that part will fit that car

I’ll find the right numbers and post up

Thanks for your diligence and detail!!

Well here is the Volvo pages for the 1998 model with straight connector - note the fitment chart - that’s wrong!

And here is the same for th e1999

They use the same diagram , but then have a parts break for the angled connector, but don’t show it.

Executive summary

If you have the straight water pipe, heads out to rear of engine, left side of car, you need part number 6842428 or equivalent

If your water pipe connection angles forward to front of car, you need part 9470409 or equivalent
