it grabs but the sorta whips-up, then starts...run normal. Does throw a reduced performance alert for about 30 secs.
Mech wants $900 to: "...That appears to be a crank sensor issue. We would have to diagnose it to be sure. I have had some issues where the transmission had to be removed from the car. You then clean up the bellhousing matting area and reinstall in car. "
Help?

When it does so, look at the rpm needle, does it move along with how the engine is 'trying' or does is stays at 0 ?
You can grab a crank sensor from the junkyard for $10 and put it in there yourself. If he wants to remove the transmission, ouch. The sensor bolt does get stuck and the bracket has no access because of the transmission casing, but you need a bit of imagination, not going to pull a transmission just for a sensor. I did like in the video, takes 15 minutes the first time, stuck the sensor with RTV sealant and works without issue. Maybe show him the video for his future clients. Even if he damages the bracket from the block, just glue it back with some superglue. New sensor https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 85#fitment If that doesn't fix ask us for more ideas
