'05 XC70 Trailer receiver/hitch?

Post by Faust »

Understanding them to be interchangeable, I set about switching the receiver from myV70 to my XC70. I notice that the bumper cover had to be cut away on the V70 for fit. Don't want to do this on XC70. Does anyone know of a receiver which will mount to the frame without cutting away center of bumper cover. I have no idea of the brand of my current receiver.

The Curt Trailer Hitch 123181 fit my XC70 with no cutting needed. Amazon is out of stock but Rockauto has inventory.

Do you have this factory hitch that sits up inside the bumper cover?

Are you getting rid of it?
My experience shopping a bit and looking around is that the aftermarket hitches, while good quality, hang down below the bumper cover and cut down your ground clearance in the rear.

I've used Curt, I've used etrailer.

Here is a picture of my hitch. Note how the bumper cover has been cut away to allow clearance. I can't quite see whether the one you pictured required the bumper cover to be cut. I believe this is a factory hitch, I couldn't find an adapter to connect the light socket with the standard "flat four" connector on my trailer.

I compared my hitch to the drawing, appears to be a factory hitch. Still required cutting away the bumper cover.

Yep, they're supposed to be that way, tucked up inside.
