Cleaning cylinder head while on motor

Greetings all,

I am in the process of changing water pumps (fluid leaking at pump), and since I have to remove the timing belt (to be changed as well), I thought I would extract the top part of the cylinder head since there's been evidence of leakage along the anaerobic sealant line. The entire head shows signs and smells of burnt oil and is appropriately disgusting! I have cleaned the top part of the cylinder head and camshafts, and will replace the camshaft seals before re-installation.

Is there any way to clean the inside of the bottom part of the cylinder head without removing it from the head gasket up.

I'll be removing the oil pan to change out the internal o-rings, then adding fresh oil to the motor, camshafts, followers, etc. Am hoping the re-installation of the timing belt will not be as problematic as I recall when I removed the cylinder head on my silver '98 V70 years ago!
