What is the brand of the Aux Input that you bought?
Cannot help you if you only give partial information.

When I installed the Aux Input for my 2005 XC90 2.5T, I was told by the Aux gurus here that I needed to use Grom, which cost me $250, and so far so good. It was expensive but it worked:

PS: I don't know much about the product you linked ($16.50 seems too good to be true)...

There are like 900 14 pin volvo aux connectors sold online. I found one article pointing to the rear d post pannels holding that connector.
