Changing 850 rear hatch for V70 one LED problem

Post by highlander00 »

When switching out a 850 rear hatch for a V70 one. What have people done to take care of the bulb light which goes off because of the LED light on the V70 door?

I installed tailgate from '98 v70 to my 850, 3 years ago.
Since v70 tailgate have upper LED 3rd brake light you just have to tap into rear tail stop light wiring(i tapped into passenger's side stop light).

Pay attention on polarity since LED needs correct polarity.

No burnt bulb warning light when you hit the brakes.

Mine is '97 and the burnt bulb module is the same as the one from '97-'99 v70.

850 have regular 3rd brake light(if equipped) on the bottom of tailgate glass and have different burnt bulb module.

You just need the bulb failure relay from the V70 (or same model year!) you took the hatch from. It shouldn't require any further modifying, and you shouldn't have to make any modifications to the wiring.

Robert has a video on this, actually: click. Your exact question gets asked in the comments a few times, with the same answer as I've given above.
