1997 850 GLT transmission p0733 code for incorrect 3rd gear ratio

Okay so I'm getting the infamous p0733 code for incorrect 3rd gear ratio and flashing up arrow then I get stuck in 3rd gear. However, the trans feels fine. No slipps or anything. I can clear the code and keep driving. Sometimes the code comes back right away sometimes it doesn't come back for a couple days. I also notice when I shift to reverse, it take a couple seconds to engage. Does this sound like my trans is going? Or could I get lucky with the PnP switch? Any help I could

You could try cleaning the PnP contacts by 'rowing' the shifter from R to D about 20 times. Check the condition of the ATF, if it is not red, then a flush is in order.
Or, just replace the PnP. The 'incorrect gear ratio' is bogus.

BTW, when the up shift arrow is on and you are driving, shift to L when the car is stopped. Then shift to 2 & D when moving to keep the tranny from slipping too much.
