2013 C30 Fuel Filter Location

Post by carbonvirus »

Hello all,
Having difficulty locating the fuel filter on my 2013 C30 T5; most tutorials claim it to be located at the passenger-side rear tire well, between the tank and fuel lines.
I have traced the fuel lines from the tank all the way to the injector housing, ran my finger along the lines from the rear-top right of the tank all the way down the chassis, and do not see any filter; since the filter I purchased from FCPEuro is about the size of a soda can, I doubt I would have missed it.
Am I especially daft, or is this filter well hidden?

Under a shield perhaps. Search for another Volvo Parts Online Store for a clearer diagram if this does not help.

Why post this answer at all? Under a shield? How totally useless. The diagrams that you mention are pointless and show no detail as to route of the components. If you don't know, don't post a reply as an answer. I'm working on an 09 C30 and have come across the same issue. Guess I'll call the dealership and hope a mechanic knows.

Or

WheelsAZ / CP590
That's not the location on my US C30 T5 2.0 Gas. Still looking.

Dimitri Ol
wait...you have a t5 c30 with a 2.0 liter engine??????? hows that even possible?

ryan
The call the facelift a 2.0 weird people

Voltorb
It's gonna be in the engine bay above the maf cant miss it really , has a bracket screwed over the top of it which has a ball end on it. This is where the engine cover snaps on

Or

NorthernChev
Voltorb Yes, thank you for your help, but it appears there must a difference between the Euro models and the US, as I am hearing that the fuel filter on the US versions of the 2.5 turbo petrol engine is integral to the fuel pump in the tank. There are definitely no filters other than air and oil under the bonnet on my model.

Lastly

Hope a mechanic at the dealer knows?

The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump module in tank. The primary fuel filtration is the mesh on bottom of the vessel the pumps sits in. The fuel filter after the pump catches finer particle size and will stop brush and commutator bits from the fuel pump electric motor. I have not seen a stopped up fuel filter on these or other brand using non-serviceable filters even on cars and trucks with 200+ K miles. The bulk of gasoline fueled vehicles built from mid 2000s are like this. Honda dropped servceable filters beginning in 1996 as I recall. If you get 3 gallons of water then the filter gets full of water but in that case you need to remove and clean tank and the pump will need and should be changed. That mesh primary filter will reject water unless the whole surface area is covered and then the suction will get high enough to pull water through.

Jimmy Hello, thanks for this post. You responded few times for some of my questions. I have now a problem, to me is big, where my car will start and sometime will hesitate, especially now with the cold, if it was too cold will not start, if not so cold will start and run ok. So I spoke with the people at the dealer, we...them and me, thought it could be the fuel filter, after I cleaned the injectors and fuel pressure sensor. So the people at the dealer told me that it should change the fuel filter, they even find it with my serial number, they found that the car have a fuel filter...well, aint, there is not a fuel filter there. In your post here, are you referring to my Volvo C70 2007 also? Any idea what my problem could be? Thanks you so much

Correct. This has been asked before. The fuel filter is part of the fuel filter assembly. There is no external unit on P1 cars. See pics.
