Disconnect Battery to fix power window?

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Disconnect Battery to fix power window?

Post by KyDave »

My 2004 S80 driver's window will not raise the last 1" and I suspect a broken sliding clip and old grease.

However, I've had some scary experiences with pulling Volvo electrical connections, getting trouble codes after reconnecting and wondering if I broke or de-programmed something. Since I'll probably be disconnecting the door speaker, the window switch, and maybe playing with a partially disconnected window switch, should I disconnect the battery before tearing into the door?

Thanks!

shouldn't be an issue, you need the switches connected and have power anyway to diagnose and fix the issue. Access to the sliders to grease them is impossible without powering it to move up and down.
