What non automotive projects and repairs are you doing?

Post by volvolugnut »

I suspect many MVS participants also do projects in the non automotive trades. Perhaps carpentry, electrical, plumbing, concrete, woodwork, welding, and many others. It might be interesting to report on your current projects. We may be able to answer some questions and provide encouragement. Any interest out there?

I have a scooter 125 cm3, to repair, bought for a piece of bread, 75 € part ordered. Apart this, i go back in university to prepare a "Master degree" in conducting building programms. I'm considered as a sort of an E.T. because my age, by the most managers in my enterprise. Always the old question of the trip and the goal... Boring, at the end.

I will be retired in more or less 10 years. I start to look to a ruin , at 2 hours of Grenoble, to have something to do during my free time at this moment. 10 years passes so quickly.

Manovlov, A scooter for a piece of bread? Wow! I once had a Vespa in bad shape. I think I sold it for $20.
Please explain what is a conducting building program of study.
The ruin you are looking at, is it a shell of a house or just in need of maintenance? My own home needs some delayed maintenance (painting, brick repair, wood trim). I am working on these projects slowly.

I can't imagine what is called a ruin over there. You folks have castles. Here if it's still standing after 50 - 60 years it simply has to go.

We're still talking about buildings, right ?
Try to learn life's bad lessons vicariously through others.

Grenoble, is a middle town. In France, they calls it Chicago, because some shots in the street... Kids, recently. With the Coronavirus, the justice Ministry has ordered to give back freedom to those who were in jail for still 2 years. The idea behind this was to stop the sickness in prison and "fight again crowded prisons". So the olds quarters masters are now outside and want to recover back theirs territories... But it's not the place in this post for the subject.

Here, in winter, take your Volvo and you are about 45 minutes to skies tracks. Mountains walks in summer. I'm a ocean guy, mountains don't speak to me so much. But I must say that when I see Canadians mountains, Colorado ones or Montana, I feel a big feeling of freedom...

For the house project, a ruin for me is 4 walls. Everything else to rebuild. My wife prefers to invest more to have a good basis to start, around 72 000 $. Anyway, we haven't that money... I would prefer something around the half. From the moment there is fields, a piece of forest, and no neighbors 10 miles around. And a place to work my Volvo.

I sometimes ask myself what about Blue, my 850 when I will be too old to drive... Cars. I consider Blue as a piece of horology (is it the correct world ?). I 've proposed to my sons to prepare Volvos (240) for the day they would have their drive licence: the first one speaks about an Audi A2 the second one speaks only about Lexus. My answer was quick and short : "no ones of you two will be alllowed in my cellar, I keep my Bordeaux for me, tender foot band !"
I was on the way to forget the scooter subject : why to pay a new machine when you can have one for nothing and can fix it with a piece of bubble gum and a panty elastic ? I don't know how things go in USA, but here, each time you go for a ride in town, if you don't have at least 50 $ in pockets. I'm upset with that. Some call me a dinausorus. Only nice guys, the dinausorus I use to see !

Your posts are so fun!

I am also an ocean guy, but I've spent most of my life in the mountains. It must be in the genes.

You're right! Don't let those kids speak of Audis or Lexi in your house!! Right now I have a child with an '87 BMW E30 he rebuilt, and one with an old Land Rover.

OH! The pictures just showed up! That is a SWEET old stone building! I approve!

It looks like it might be several stone buildings, with maybe a piece removed at some point.

I think we should come to your place for the bar b q!

Thanks much much for yours posts...

I just try to be me. I get a bit lost when I read some posts here, because my English is not as good as it should be.

The inconvenient of having started to learn a foreign language with swear words.

I think.
