Which engine to choose 4, 5 or 6 cylinder?

We are looking to replace our p2 Volvo with either a newer used v60 or XC60.
I found service bulletins for oil consumption on the 6 cylinder across all years,
I found a service bulletin for piston replacement on the early 4 cylinders.
Read about oil consumption on the 2012 and later 5 cylinder engines due low tension piston rings.
Any recommendations which years to avoid?
