1996 Volvo 960 Radio Help Required

Hi all, back...again.

You may remember me, I've had some trouble with head gaskets and timing belts on my(errr....used to be mine) 1996 Volvo 960. I said I was going to get rid of it after I fixed its last problem(timing belt & valves) and I did. Problem is, a relative of mine got it. Now he has a problem.

The battery was disconnected and now the radio asks for a code so it may work. The code used to be written in the owner's manual, but the owner's manual has managed to get lost. Well, he kept trying differant codes, and now the radio doesn't ask for a code at all. All it says on the display is "off". I'm assuming the radio has locked up on it due to the anti-theft system. What I need to know, is how to unlock it, and if/when I do, how do I find out the code for it? Thanks in advance, any insight is appreciated.

P.S. Just when I thought I had this car figured out, it throws something else at me....

When radio reads 'CODE' contact a Volvo dealer with the VIN number and, possibly, the radio serial number and he will give you the code. This is a free service.
