Hello,
I'm going to attempt a leather seat conversion on my 98 S70. Before I take a trip to the junkyard next week I'm trying to figure out between which years and options the seat upholstery or entire seats will be compatible. Due to the SIPS bag differences I'm pretty certain the 99 and 00 front seats will not work in my 98, but I should still be able to use the upholstery from any year when it comes to the front seats, right? Also, for the seat bottoms I believe the skins will be compatible between passenger and driver sides. This would make life easier as a good condition drivers seat is usually hard to find. My car has manual seats adjustments but I think the skins from an electric powered seat should work for manual seats after making some holes for the adjustment knobs. And finally for the back seats I'm fairly sure I'll need to find one from a S70 as the back seat of a V70 is a lot different.
Can anyone here on MVS confirm whether I'm figuring this correctly?
Thanks!
Seat upholstery compatibility S/V70

Looks like you have seen all the same information as I have over the years...
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Seat bottoms swap driver to passenger no problem..... see thread here
https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forum ... 85#p466785
I’ll have a nice set of new seat bottom skins for sale shortly, in light beige too, for P80
Driver passenger seat back skins swap with minor cosmetic surgeries needed for both manual/ power swaps and the side swaps. I have left over material in graphite if these are needed but usually you can harvest leather from your old crusty seat
I think S70 and V70 seats are completely different , yes. The split differently , I think? Not sure.

From what I can see in the parts catalog. All the front seat skins from the P80 S/V 70 are interchangeable. They maybe be some cosmetic differences but they should interchange.

After having a look at a V70 I can safely say that no part of the rear seat is interchangeable. The V70 seat bottom is split and also mounts differently with a hinge such that it can be folded forward to make room for the seat back to be folded to lie level with the cargo compartment. On the S70 the bottom is not split nor hinged.
The rear seat is turning out to be the difficult part to get hold of. Not too many S70s out there with full leather options...
