Under hood VIN plate location?

I see this so many times, but I've yet to see one showing the correct location. On my 2001 S60 it's located on the right hand side of the engine bay, not the left side, between the front fender and the ECM/TCM box.

Am I the only one that has theirs located on the right hand side? This is a left hand drive, North American market, US vehicle. Nothing special about it, that I know of. It is an early chassis number, under 035000, so I don't know if anyone has a S60 chassis that low, or lower, that has the same under hood VIN plate location as mine or if they made mine like this for a different reason.

2001 V70 T5...same location as yours. The early year P2 V70's I see in the junkyard are also in this location...not sure about later years.

My 2005 has it back on the left side , next to the air cleaner, similar to the P80s
