1996 850R Issue Opening Drivers Door From Inside

Post by wackenhut »

Does anyone know what could be causing the drivers door to not be able to open from inside? I just drove the car and when I went to unlock the door, it would not open. The locks go up and down when pressed, but using the pull handle on the inside will not work. Luckily, from the outside, the door can be opened using the handle. If anyone knows how to fix this that would be awesome. I am not sure how difficult of a job this is. Luckily for now I figured to just to roll down the window since it can be opened from the outside. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Thank you.

Check the Bowden cable at the door pull on the inside of the car , the plastic ‘sleeve’ has two ‘wings’ that locate to hold the black outer steady while the wire inside moves. You’ll see what I mean when you remove the door card and look where the cable enters the door pull. Mine constantly would come out of place , opening the door by lowering the window and using the outer handle drops the cool factor by 10. I solved by drilling hole in plastic surround and cable (zip) tying it. Gave up trying to use glue.
