91 940se automatic transmission shifting hard Topic is solved

I'm a first time volvo owner and a few days ago i was given a 91 940se, 184,000 miles, they said engine was rebuilt around 10 years ago. car belonged to and older lady that bought it new and i had got the car from her son and had been sitting at his house just over a year. it starts right up and engine is pretty clean. the auto trans seem to shift a little hard. if you let up on the accelerator a little it will shift better. trans fluid is dark and i plan to change it soon. is this a major problem? will the fluid change help? i did check the cable on the intake and it has a little slack to it. i did find some repair papers from 2013 for the climate control, which after looking under the dash they hacked it apart. anywhoo. at that point in 2013 the car only had 180,000 miles on it. so hopefully the engine is a little fresher than i think.
