Installing Volvo bike rack on Volvo roof rails

Post by waherne »

Hello All,

Searched the forum and didn't see anything on this.

I just installed the Volvo brand bike rack on my XC90 and thought the directions stink I think it is on correctly.

However in order to get the rack into the T-rails I had to take off the rubber stripping that fits in the channel on each of the roof racks. The only thing I can think to do from here is cut the strips into 2 pieces and then fit them back on either side of the bike rack. I am loath to make those cuts until I know there are no other options.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks!
Will

You're right, it does need to be cut. I take the excess strip off when I have the bike rack on, but when I have just the rails I reattach it. It secures in tightly, it won't go anywhere and you won't notice that it's been cut.
If I paid attention to signs with little symbols I’d never find anywhere to park.
