Hello, I have a 1996 850 Turbo Sedan. I just found a 1997 Volvo GLT Sedan I can buy cheap for a donor car. I THINK it is the same car, but just want to verify. I am buying it for the front bumper cover, the dash and dash pad. Can someone please confirm?
What other parts should I pull off of it? I'm not keeping the donor car around for long after I get my parts off of it. I'm told it runs but has a transmission issue.
If someone wants the rest of the car and you live near MD, let me know.

Engine internals and turbo - slightly different. Transmission - different.

Everything else - the same. All sensors, mechanical parts, body parts, interior etc. are the same.

If it were me I'd gab a ton of stuff. Brake calipers, the standard engine sensors (MAF, TPS, ECT, CPS) as these are known to go bad, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, maybe the radio. Whatever else caught my eye.

I'm curious too. :?
If it's manual...there are some differences M56,M58,M59.
If it's auto....they should be all the same...AW50-42LE.

Yeah, that's my thinking, as well. I'm refreshing the auto I took out of my '97 T5 (which is the same as that '96 Turbo) planning on replacing the tired auto trans in the wife's '97 GLT. Pretty sure they're both the same AW50-42LE trans.

I know the manuals can be different, but even at that, a '96 and '97 FWD manual (M56) would be the same.

My recollection is that final drive ratios are different between GLT and T5 ("turbo") slush boxes, that's why I wrote that. But Maybe I am conflating a GLT/T5 difference that doesn't exist with the final drive ratio difference between the NA and turbo versions.

I think the Rs in the early years are the same as far as the tranny goes. Might have changed later with the AWD Rs.
I think the early Rs just got the rims, front lip, nice interior and a different tune.
This is for AT Rs only. MT Rs got M4.4, the special tranny and 16T.
