I'd like to change the locking delay on my fuel filler door from the currently programmed 10 minute delay to 0 minutes. I'd like the flap to lock at the same time the doors lock, not 10 minutes later. I've read posts on these forums that 10 minute and 0 minute delays are possible. Can anyone tell me the procedure, and if it is possible to do without VIDA (ie. via the dash or message window). Thank you.

On my 03 xc 70, the filler door locks "when the vehicle starts moving forward" according to the manual. I can hear it lock, I assumed it was based on speed like 10kmh but its usually locked before I get out of the gas station parking lot. It also says that it is not connected to the Central Locking Button for the purposes of locking the rest of the car while refuelling.
I don't know if your year of car is the same or if this information helps.

From the 01 owner's manual:
> Keys
Turn the key once to unlock the driver's door and the fuel filler door.
> Using the remote control
Press the LOCK button once to lock all doors, fuel filler door and tailgate.
Press the UNLOCK button once to unlock the driver's door only. Press this button again (within 10 seconds) to unlock all doors, fuel filler door and tailgate.
> Fuel filler door
The fuel filler door, located on the right rear fender, is connected to your car's central locking system. The driver's door must be unlocked before the fuel filler door can be opened.
And from the Intro page
> Fuel filler door
When you lock your car using the central locking button on the driver's door or remote control, the fuel filler door also locks after a 10-minute delay. If you lock your car with the fuel filler door open, you will need to unlock the car to allow the fuel filler door to be closed again.
I didn't see anything else about fuel door locking in the 01 manual https://volvo.custhelp.com/app/manuals/ ... /model/V70
Nothing about moving the car forward, though I did see that in the 07 manual, so that was implemented later. My guess is the only way to change the 10 minute time interval is with VIDA, if indeed it can be changed.

Thank you for your responses.
I have the manual (original owner) and am aware of the ways to lock/unlock the doors/fuel filler flap. I'm also aware of the automatic lock after the car is rolling. Per earlier forum posts (and experience), the 10 minute locking delay is the factory standard, but not the only delay available (0 minute delay is an option)
I was hoping one of the forum programming gurus may know about changing the program. I'm confident that it can be done via VIDA, but I don't own VIDA and don't plan on buying a copy after owning the car for 20 years. There are also "secret" messages you can access via the message screen, that aren't shared in the owners manual how to access them. I was hoping there was a possibility to make the change thru an alternative path, just like some of the messages accessed via the message screen.
Your guess is the same as my original expectation (VIDA only), but I thought I'd throw it out to the forum in case someone has been able to do this an alternate way.
Thanks again.

That's interesting - your car has that? Just curious since there didn't seem to be anything in the manual about it.

I also want it to lock immediately, i came across it in VIDA and could not change it. I decided to buy a Volvo locking cap as the flap lock is kinda a anti tamper lock anyway. Not sure what the green one but i got the black one, its exactly the same as the stock one but has a key. Dont get the red one as its older metal style and they will be rusted now, my red one sounded like a salt shaker.
NOTE> its impossible to unscrew the locked cap by force, the easiest way to steal fuel is to drill a hole in the tank.
