Anyone with a sunroof, i would advise checking the mountings bolts. I was cleaning my sunroof today and investigating a minor rattle/noise. I removed the plastic accordion that fell apart as it was broken anyway and very brittle and then checked the bolts which were very loose. Now my sunroof moves without the noise of clicking/breaking plastic
NOTE: the plastic accordian is purely decorative, it slides back and forth with the sunroof, when it breaks the broken pieces catch and sound like the something is breaking.

I'm planning to remove the sunroof glass when I reattach the front metal strip later this week, and in preparation I went ahead and ordered replacement screws and washers for the reattachment, as per the technical bulletin regarding sunroof rattle (in a previous year I had tightened the screws but didn't replace them or add washers as described):

These screws are tricky indeed. They are coated with thread lock - I think it's the red one (stronger). But more important is they are very short and screw into an aluminum frame: it is very easy to strip the threads inside the screw hole, which is then quite a problem.
Worth verifying the alignment of the glass with the top of the roof (and also around the seal), so not too much water accumulates - it will drain past the seal, inside the tray and will block the drain tubes with dust after a while

That’s an impressively fine pitch screw.

The previous owner of my car took it to a shop to fix the sunroof shade and they managed to stripped two of the four sunroof bolt holes. Be very careful not to tighten these small bolts too much or you'll have to put in Helicoil inserts, which I ended up doing for all four bolt holes while the sunroof was off. It's not too bad of a job to do the inserts but another $30 for the Helicoil kit.prwood wrote: ↑20 Jan 2021, 21:12 I'm planning to remove the sunroof glass when I reattach the front metal strip later this week, and in preparation I went ahead and ordered replacement screws and washers for the reattachment, as per the technical bulletin regarding sunroof rattle (in a previous year I had tightened the screws but didn't replace them or add washers as described):
