DICE communication error with VIDA

Post by hEllberg »

Hello!

I recently got myself a dice unit, i've installed VIDA VirtualBox with windows 7 pro on it. Everything went fine till I tried to read information from the car. It wont communicate and I get an error. Vehicle interface status is blinking orange, and the firmware status is blinking green. USB com status is blinking orange when I plug in the USB then it doesnt light up anymore. Driver seems to be recognized as I can choose the DICE unit in VIDA. Anyone has any tips on what can cause the communication error? It's on a volvo xc70 2008

Run Vida DVD:\Install\Utils\EnableIEHostingx??.reg Where x?? is your operating system 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64). Then reboot.

Or add the one below for you operating system to the windows registry then reboot.

For 32-bit operating system (x86)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework]
"EnableIEHosting"=dword:00000001

For 64-bit operating system (x64)
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\MICROSOFT\.NETFramework]
"EnableIEHosting"=dword:00000001

Problem solved, turned out to be my VirtualBox using USB 1.1 and not USB 2.0

We have come up with a way run VIDA in Windows 10 that works better then windows 7. No VM required. Go here and read pages 16, 6 & 1 in that order. It runs VIDA with IE11 and Windows 10. If you read the whole thread you will find several other enhancements scattered throughout the thread.

Here is a hack to run VIDA in Google Chrome, does away with many of the problems that VIDA has with Internet Explorer.
