POLL: Pro Parts Sweden VS Genuine Volvo

Post by CIK7 »

I would like feedback ONLY from p80 members that has used struts and/or shocks from BOTH Professional Parts Sweden and Genuine Volvo. Im not concerned about Bilstein, Monroe, etc. Only PPS and Volvo. This is my first poll so I hope I nail it on the head.

Can I ask why you are looking at PPS shocks? I didn't even know they made any. My rule of thumb is this. If it has PPS name on it don't use it. I had correspondence with them a couple of years ago on poor quality parts and their answers were evasive and none committal. Simple view was then to avoid their products. Scan-tech are the same, although some of their simple parts like tailgate panel repair kit or front air duct are ok parts.

I wish you luck with your quest.

Wales - Scotland in Six Nations Rugby thus weekend, what a battle!

We’ve traced our family back to Wales in 1076, that explains a lot. There was a Abscate relative hawking used whale oil, no doubt.

Give this a few days but you might literally be finding the number of people onMVs who used Proparts on suspension critical stuff can be counted on the hand of a careless table saw user

Thank you for your input. This is for my 960. YES I know 960 belongs in 2/7/9 group but this is an opinion on volvo struts and not as many late RWD owners. P80 (autocorrect changed that to P90X b4 I corrected it   ) has more group members therefore more people probably replace p80 struts and shocks.
The 960 quality parts are super difficult to find. I'm unable to find the Genuine Volvo struts. I want that soft ride.

That makes more sense as the only vehicle I could find they had shocks for were 960's. I did some more reading yesterday, and one of the things to look into may be they may not make the shocks themselves. I found a web-site where they were talking about KYB shocks ready made strut kits. The person was complaining as they were using Pro-parts top strut bearing units and seats. The point people made were KYB don't make those parts so to sell a ready to go strut unit they had to buy in parts. Perhaps Pro-parts do the same but in reverse?

Good Luck.

Just like the P80s, OE was Sachs up front and Boge on the back. Both are owned by ZF now and have been incorporated into same factory line, so whichever is cheapest or most available will do fine.
