850 dash light dimmer 9162467: fixable?

Post by 850oldschool »

I've done some searching and found a couple of threads describing how to hotwire it so the dash lights are always on high. Has anybody ever repaired one to work as original?

Thanks! The jumper fix seems like it'll be fine.

The dimmer switch is pretty simple electronics. Replacing the Rheostat and/or the Power Transistor most likely will fit it better then 90% of the time. Heat destroys Power Transistors and physical wear and tear take it toll on Rheostats.

hmm...

Anyway first thought it was slider who was gone as when sliding it time to time blinks the lights. If anyone looking it is 150K slider and hard to find exactly due physical size of 17mm x 6.8mm and slide movement 12mm roughly but smaller fits surely.

This fix will take a moment.

I'd send you a spare one from my stash but shipping to Pluto is a killer. Looks fun though, hope you get it sorted!

It’s been tough , even for United Planet Service, since Pluto was demoted
