RIP Kit with NA throttle body?

Post by NoMoreJDM »

Hey new to the forum and new Volvo owner. Just got it a week ago and already ready for Mods. Wondering the compatibility of the IPD RIP kit with the 850 N/A intake manifold and Throttle body. Any intel would be great.

It is not compatible. Naturally Aspirated engines do not have a Intercooler. RIP = Reverse Intercooler Piping. Pipe routeing would not be correct.

I believe they have a turbo car, just running the N/A manifold and throttle.

RIP kit should be compatible, but you'll likely need a different sized coupler to attach to the throttle itself. I know the NA throttles are an upgrade, but I don't know enough about it to comment on making it work.

If that is the case he should already know the answer and there would be no need to ask. If the OEM piping fits the IPD pipes will fit.

What ecbskyes said is correct. I have a Turbo and thinking of adding the NA intake manifold and TB. The TB is from what i rememebr roughly 1cm (.40 of an inch) larger. Maybe it will stretch over. I will test out this weekend with the hose on my car currently. I do not have the IPD RIP kit yet so i am not able to test this out. Just bought the vehicle so waiting for funds to go up before i start buying things from places other than the Junkyard

Welcome to the madness !
I have done the N/A T/B mod and have been more than happy with it. I bored my turbo manifold to fit the N/A T/B instead of buying another one from a N/A car. But you will need to purchase a new T/B hose ( Snabb ). The N/A throttle body is way to large for the stock hose to stretch over. However the first thing you need to do is get the car to stage 0 before modifying. Then have fun :)

Anyone know where to get the coupler to the N/a throttle body from the intercooler piping for the IPD rip kit? I highly doubt the one the kt comes with will stretch (but haven't tried). Doesn't look like the coupler that Snabb sells will work since it is for the stock piping.
