Hi . My mobile mechanic came over today to do a full cam belt / water pump change.
He’s got the cam lock tool required etc. I got an SKF kit for him to fit.
He got so far and found there is ‘lateral play’ on the intake pulley (the VVT one in my case).
He wasn’t happy to continue as feared such play wasn’t ‘normal’.
I don’t know at all, so any advice on this will be appreciated.

I just replaced the VVT hubs on my 2.5T last weekend, some info in the last 2 pages of “what did you do on your P2 today” thread. Doing my research before hand, I could not come up with any actual spec’s, but 1-2mm of axial play seemed to be the norm.
