98 S70: can you fit a push mower in trunk?

Post by CIK7 »

I found what I think could be a gem. A rare one. June had the V70 model. It's the base model N/A 'GT' trim with all wood trim (including shifter), heated leather seats (manual), AND has a manual trans. It's look amazing. I'm VERY disappointed it doesn't have sunroof. It's an effective air currulation tool even during 85° mid-humidity temps. And I do what I can to manage my anxiety. Question: Has anyone fit a push/ self-propelled mower in the trunk?

I've put a standard engine-driven lawnmower in the back of my 2000 V70XC a number of times, no issues. Just had to lower the handle.

PS. Between leaks and mechanical issues, the sunroofs tend to be nothing but issues on these car. You're not missing out too much.

By push mower do you mean one without a motor or one with a motor but non-driven wheels? If the first option, it will depend on the overall length. Remember the rear seats fold down on an S70 so that may help you too.

I am referring to S70. I know i could probably put 2 push mowers in a v70 no problem. And the sunroof is important to me. I am trying to weigh the pros and cons of it. Popping the top on my 98 v70xc or 96 964 resulted in much better air circulation for more anxiety relief. I am not sure if the no-sunroof equipped GT is or is not a good idea. Ive dealt with a leaky sunroof. I solved that easily.

If you want a lawn mower business to hum, get a green works 120 VAC electric mower, $180, and use either customer electricity or get a generator.

No gas, oil, starting trouble, and no noise. I do two half acre lots every 20 days with this

I can understand the wish for a moon/sunroof. I have had them in many cars. I can honestly say I seldom if ever use them. I have owned my V70R for 8 years and never opened it. My Toyota 4Runner 3 years and again never opened it. Difference is we have a dry climate with low humidity so not the same oppressive humidity you can get in other parts of the world.

The bonuses are there is less to go wrong. If the A/C works then I have no need for the sunroof.

The car you are looking at has a lot going for it. At this age, condition is more important than spec. There is also a lot to be said for basic spec like manual seats. Heck, if you could get manual wind up windows I would be happy!!

Yes you can put a push or self propelled in the S70 sedan. Back seats fold down. Collapse the mower handle and little wiggling!

I frequently use my sunroof. Air circulation is important to ease my anxiety. Just breathing in cooler air is the goal. I am going to be making a homemade AC that is suppose to cool to 30-40°F. I might seize this opportunity if someone doesn't seize before the 19th.
It certainly appears to be in good condition. I have a decent scan tool and some blue rubber gloves. I will inspect it to be sure.
I might not be a p80 all the way. I might get a 2nd Volvo. A 96 960, identical to my 960 other than the one for sale has beige leather not grey and 132k miles.

Won’t work well anywhere but especially won’t work in OK summer
