Buying a C30 for teenage girl

Post by CedBobKing »

Considering buying a C30 with a stick for my daughter who will be learning to drive soon.

I have a V70 that I have put 129k on and is approaching 250k. I feel somewhat competent at keeping my B5254T2 and AW55-50SN running. I own a DiCE and VIDA 2014D.

How different or more difficult can the B5254T7 with a M66 be?

Are there any buyers guides or maintenance guides out there? I have searched and come up empty.

2006 S40 2.4i 95,000 miles

Volvo C30 (2007-2013) Technical Articles

The kids Gramps wanted to buy their grand kids a manual so they could learn how to use a clutch. I couldn't find a good Honda and a C30 peaked one of my Son's interest. After several months of email and phone tags we were able to go and take a look. It was pretty well used but we brought it back to Stage O and then some after about a year and a half.

My suggestion is to have your daughter try a manual. You may find she could drive it but not like it. One of my Sons opted for an auto after a couple of training sessions while the other happily took the C30 as his.

Basics:
New Tires
Complete brakes front and rear
All filters and fluids
Front struts and rear shocks
Clutch worn but works. Not smooth or light as older Honda's and BMW I have driven.
The Clutch Got Smoother One Day After I WOT in 3rd and 4th. Almost like clutch surface debris were removed?

Aftermarket:
New eBay HID D2S bulbs
Angel Eyes - Inside Headlight Assembly
Rear Wheel Spacers
Rear Whiteline 27mm Mazda Sway Bar & OEM Style Links
Rear Adjustable Camber Arms (A Must, Factories Were Short and Suspension Flex Made Them Even More Negative)

Turned out to be the cheapest manual we could find.

Very, very rare 2.0 (R-Design) 2008 C30 6SP. This and Son's two tone are very unique looking for the body design. Priced about right as all the goodies and work needed are done. A bit of a distance though.
