Volvo lovers:
The right mirror started acting strangely after the wife hit another car coming out of paralel parking. Basically, it will move left/right without problem but will get stuck when attempting to move it up/down with the driver seat controls. I'm pretty sure the problem lies in the actual mirror motor, and not on the connection coming from the internal controls on the driver seat, as there's "some" level of response. The blow must have broke something internally.
Before attempting to replace the full mirror, which will probably fix the problem, wanted to check with you and see if you believe it's worth trying to fix it. If so, where would you start?
Thanks!

You can change just the motor but it would be sooo much easier to just replace the whole mirror head with a used one from the boneyard.

You'll need to remove the triangular inner door trim and partially remove the inner door panel (many Youtube videos on this). You don't need to completely remove it like the video shows, just enough to unplug the mirror connector. Then its just 1 nut and one electrical connector.

fairly sure the later year mirrors are simply clipped in search online but from memory grab it (the mirror) and give it a good yank. probably just something simple has detached.
or you could just swap the complete mirror from the junkyard, just check the new mirror (or current mirror) is attached to the backing plate, as they commonly fall off.

FYI, some models come with multiple versions of mirrors. Heated, power folding, puddle lights... options. Not sure how interchangeable they are.
