98 v70 n/a vs 95 850 turbo parts swap, 96 960 remote

Post by CIK7 »

I found an 850 turbo wagon. I believe its Nautic blue. It has the third row seats. I want to know if door trim, 2nd row seats, dashboard, heater core, foglights, headlight wiper motors, and third row seats all are interchangeable with parts from a 98 v70? Can the 850 headlights and bottom headlight trim be replaced with normal sv70 headlight and corner light? Also I realize the remote button layout is diff from 96 960 to 850 and sv70. I want to know if I can use both of my 96 960 remote fobs on the 850 or 98 v70.

No: door trim, 2nd row seats, foglights
I don't know but I doubt it: dashboard, remote fobs
Probably: headlight wiper motors
Yes: heater core, third row seats

For the headlights and corner light you have to replace the whole nose including all the sheet metal: everything ahead of the front doors moves over from the V70 onto the 850.

Dashboard...no...because of different shaped windshield and door cards on 70 series.

Headlights and trim and corner lights..no....because of different shaped cross member, fenders and bumper on 70 series.

Door trims ...outside door trims?

Foglights....no....different shaped bumper on 70 series.

Remotes...i'm not sure...but i doubt that they could be used.

The body harnesses are different between the 850's and the '98's. Dash may physically swap, but the wiring is wrong. The doors look the same, but the mounting for the inner panels and the wiring is different.

Not much is a direct carry over on the body and interior.

If you get a 98 V70 key fob from eBay or from the junkyard, to make it work with another 98 you must take it to the dealer (or a shop with dealer software) and get it reprogrammed. You can't use VIDA or any other consumer software or any DIY tricks.

So that fact works against the chances of using a 960/sv90 fob.

Does that mean the alarm system on the 70 is different from the 850? I thought 70 and 850 had the same remote? Robert reprogrammed his own 850 remotes.

850 came with Guard Alarm I & II...so they are pretty different across model years.
GAII had late 850s from '96 & '97.

EU models s,v70 had also GAII but also had different Immo2 box than late 850s so...not compatible with it.

There are also chipped keys for EU models which were introduced in late '96 for EU models.
U.S market got them in '99 models.

Yes. What misha said about I and II is no doubt correct, I am unaware of those exact details.

850 cars can be DIY reprogrammed to match the appropriate remote. x70 cars can not.
