ds door stop

Post by tommylg »

I am not seeing how the pivoting part fits into the a-post bracket.
When I try to mate the two parts it does not appear as though the door will open.

Additionally, what is the bolt size for the pivoting part and what is the size of the nylock nuts for the bracket exiting the door?

I cannot source the rubber cover as on the ps door.

Thanks,
Tommy

Just to be sure: are you certain that's the correct part number for that side of the car? And it's not upside down?

That one is either the wrong side, or upside down.
It says "FR" on top. Does it say "FL" on the other side?

Well, well, well, it says in a serious monotone, FR. So, that is the issue. I do not have to look at the PS or FR side as everything works properly.
Anybody know where I can source a fine used one w/the rubber sleeve?

Thanks much, Tommy

The passenger side ones come from France, the driver side from Florida

I can pull a Driver side one from my Miami parts car and send to you. If bread is tight, we can do it on the FDPP,

I meant, does it say "FL" on the other side of that arm? Some of the available parts are sold as reversible and fitting both sides, and are stamped which way to install them.

That being said, those parts aren't perfect fits, as the S/V/X (98-00) are the ones that truly use the same part, just flipped over. The 850 parts is an mirror images. Some suppliers are spec-ing the 98-00 ones for 850's, but they're not exact fits.
The difference is that large oval spring. It isn't centered on the mount and over-hangs one edge more than the other.
It's not an issue on the 98-00 cars, but on the 850s, it can rub a bit on the door wiring harness bundle, even though the bracket itself bolts in and works just fine.

Chuck, I mis-read your post and thought the "other side" meant the passenger side.
With that said and a look see, there are no markings on the other side.
So, now where do I stand?

abscate, when I am absolutley sure, I will take the hinge, cash flow good.

Thanks guys,
Tomm

If abscate has the proper part, then that would be ideal. The one you have will "work", but with the issue I mentioned above.

Will the spring rubbing on the wire harness cause issues? Maybe, maybe not.

So, is it the consensus that abscate can supply the proper hinge?
If so, I need abscate to touch base w/me, if you please.
Thanks,
Tommy
